Bobby has always been written to sing a good chunk of the song by himself ...
And the opening number of this production of Company is the worst I've ever ever seen it in a major A level professional production... I've seen them perform it at least 3 different times on TV, and live in the theater too, and it always embarrassingly misdirected and badly staged and conceived. I think it's a really dumb idea to keep using this number to sell the production. I do not like this revival, but I think there are other numbers in it that aren't so badly done and annoyingly staged. |
