| Several major numbers are not on either of those and have not to my knowledge ever been on a commercially issued recording. These include ”Mother's Getting Nervous,” ”Women's Club Blues,” ”Minstrel Parade,” ”Madame Zuzu,” and ”Taking No Chances,” not to mention the ballet. The ballet does borrow a bit of music from Die Bürgschaft, which has been recorded. A good deal of the rest has been recorded multiple times, and sometimes with the original orchestrations (not just on the McGlinn). Several of the cut songs have been recorded, mostly by Bagley, although ”Susan's Dream” was not included on any of the Bagleys. That great song has been recorded elsewhere, although mostly on recordings that are out-of-print (some never issued on CD) and sometimes with the accompaniment much altered from what Weill wrote. Long ago (like 15-20 years ago) I put together a list of recordings of songs from the show that I posted on this site. I suppose I could update it and repost it, but I think not right now. |
