I went back to see Julie Benko tonight because the last time Ramin Karimloo was also out. Benko is so wonderful in the part, her singing is sublime and her acting has gotten stronger. She also has great chemistry with Ramin and because she looks more mature than Beanie, their relationship seems more believable. Ramin was also fine tonight, so charming early on but in his last scene his downfall is heartbreaking. I wish some of the critics had seen Julie because they might feel differently about the revival. At any rate, the audience were ecstatic tonight and got their money’s worth.
