It works better as a cast album. My daughter (then a high school senior) and I saw it, and discussed it a lot after. So she learned a good amount about Brechtian staging…and how to lose an audience. We did think Ceveris, Murphy, and Pittu had done incredible homework on the real life individuals they were portraying; they had vocal inflections and mannerisms down pat. I know it’s an oddity (with the Germanic accents), but I like the cast album and listen to it a lot, especially “Speak Low” and “It Never Was You.”
