I don't think one can consider the Sutton Charity a major revival. It was a pretty limited run in a small theater.
It was certainly exciting to see her, especially in that small venue, but she felt miscast. As you say, she lacked the quirky quality that the role seems to require.
The entire production was very scaled down. I can't imagine that production could have played Broadway without some major re-tooling, not to mention a better wig for our leading lady. : ) |
