I'd say that Dear World is way down (or up) on the list of Forgotten Musicals compared to Flahooley and Carnival in Flanders. But I definitely think it fulfils the original mandate of Encores! very nicely.
I just wish 2/3's were of Dear World calibre and leave one spot for something that played years, had a national tour, many regional productions, was broadcast on Live at Lincoln Center and closed on Broadway only 16 years ago. |
