I saw Julie and Ramin last night. Wow, she was great!! You could tell that she and Ramin were still pretty new together. Everything she did just cracked him up!! He couldn't handle her (in a good way). Her delivery is so earnest and so hilarious. And that voice! Great mix. Nailed everything. She's also on that stage the entire night... How did she do this full week and a 2 day yesterday? I was exhausted by the end. The show clocked in right under 3 full hours. We were out right before 11 PM.
I've heard the debates about whether you need a "singer" or not and I didn't know the show well at all prior to tonight. Well, with as much singing as Fannie needs to do - some of it's talky/dreamy, sure, but most of it is real singing - defiance, love, comedy, . I can't picture the singing without that power. I thought the sound was great too - they turned the reverb/echo on a bit too much here and there, but for the most part, I really appreciated the natural sound and good volume.
Lottery was easy to win. Was seat U1/U3. Theater pretty full except a few full rows kept empty for some reason.
And if you like trumpets, you'll love this show. :} |
