I felt the same way, I think borneback is just not being nice.

I thought you gave an honest opinion and it was very clear what you said.

Max was an amazing standby. I saw his first night on as well. He hit all the points. Didn't flub any lines. Dancing was amazing.
Yet, he doesn't exude the x factor and charm that the likes of Hugh Jackman could project. Great job Max.
I've seen Hugh 4 times in this role, and though not perfect. You can't take your eyes off him and he has that effortless charm and star power that makes the show very exciting. And yes, This Music Man does not soar like the last revival did in the Susan Stroman production.

As for Julie Benko, I saw her last night. She was a star. Not in the X factor celebrity sense, but she was superb in every way. Her lines were funny, her double takes, you cared about her journey as Fanny and her voice. It soars to the rafters. The audience was with her all the way. I saw a totally different show. Bravo Julie. Her chemistry with Ramin was also evident. People were cheering them on with every look, every kiss, etc.

I saw Beanie two weeks ago, my friend kept squeezing me everytime Beanie sang. I couldn't wait to get out of the theater and never come back. She had no pizzaz, no spark. I don't even find her funny. I am sad that the producers miscast her. It's not her fault, but she really can't carry that show.

Just my thoughts.

I find hugh Jackman to be charmless and his voice grates on me. I jumped when I heard Max would be on as I don't want to see it with Hugh. Max was sensational, dynamic, his dancing effortless, and exuding charm. And oh, that smile! To each their own. I thought he elevated a mostly lousy production (all look, no heart) besides its stellar choreography. Much as I think Sutton is miscast, I enjoyed her Marian. Seconding Nick Alvino - he was terrific as Tommy. Had no idea he was an u/s. His dancing is FABULOUS!

I have a similar but different take on Feldstein and the x factor.

I saw her two weeks ago, and felt the need to root for her. The way you do watching a stock production wherein a TV personality takes on a stage role with forethought, skill, and above all else, good intentions. I wasn't troubled by her singing per se, which has nice notes ("Who Are You Now?"), some power aided by the soundboard. I felt I was being asked to buy into the fact of her casting, the concept of her performance in this venue, Broadway. So I kept leaning forward with that "is this the moment when she seals the deal?" expectation. In other words, I didn't sit in the dark house, hands across my chest, waiting for failure.

I waited to be surprised. Sincerely. When the performance's workmanlike okay-ness coasted on -- marred by Mayer encouraging some unappealing clowning (that roll downstage in an ill-chosen costume) -- the show's seams showed, the second act's structural monotony and reliance on snippets of reprises to cue emotions sinking it.

Feldstein's problem is that she can't deliver this vehicle as a vehicle. And once that becomes clear, the whole endeavor charging premium prices begins to implode. This star is never "bad" or embarrassing, moments of clowning excesses aside. But she can't make a case for Funny Girl to be happening. That, to me, is the fundamental problem baked into the DNA of this revival.

I did not read any reviews prior. I went in there wanting to root for her and like her.
At the end of the show. I just can't.

Same same same on Julie. After Greatest Star, everyone was WITH HER. I had an amazing time and was in awe. I thought she was great. She also is pretty prolific on TikTok, so it's been fun seeing her get so excited when she gets called in and take us on her journey a little bit. @jujujuliebee
