When the young woman tells Lot that she has a fourteen year-old boyfriend, the actor playing Lot started to panic and retreated upstage, breathing deeply and repeating a phrase/mantra - as if to ground himself back in the play. He caught his breath and "reentered" the scene. This lasts a *long* time. It made me question if the actor was developmentally challenged (I don't believe he is), but errs really really close to "play acting" a disability - ALL without ever really laying the groundwork for such a behavior.
A really bizarre collection of directing, writing, and acting choices all on top of each other. |
