She resembles Fanny? Not from the photos I’ve ever seen. I agree with your other points. Did it really need a revival? For that matter, did Music Man need a revival? No.

Point taken. She resembles Fanny more than Beanie. I’ve seen some “glamour shots” of Fanny Brice where she is quite attractive, angles and lighting help. I did enjoy Beanie but didn't do much for the show.

I just saw a comparison clip of Barbra and Lea on Twitter. Lea shouldn’t get the role just because she can do a passable sound-alike impression.
