| This video just popped up a couple days ago on YouTube of ''50 Years of Broadway at the Kennedy Center,'' which was held Feb. 11-12, 2022. Anyone here get to see it live? Was it shot for CBS or PBS? Airdate? I've Googled around, but had no luck finding out more info. The cast includes Tony winners Stephanie J. Block, James Monroe Iglehart, La Chanze, etc., plus Norm Lewis, Andrew Rannells, Tony Yazbeck ... |

| I've enjoyed plenty of televised Broadway concert specials (like the Sondheim tributes, the long gone My Favorite Broadway series and various Kennedy Center tributes), but that sampling left me... cold. Everything looked... competent. | |

| I see what you mean, but in person it was thrilling. | |

| I understand what you mean. These are very gifted performers but they seem kind of detached. Almost like there's no audience there. I think that part of it is because there is no virtually no audible audience reaction until the last seconds of the video. | |

| Which is why I was wondering about its airdate. It's full of performers I've often admired, & they got to strut their stuff for 2 soldout performances. The Washington Post's Peter Marks called ''the exciting acts of '50 Years of Broadway,' directed by Marc Bruni, a joyful paean to the past.'' Time will tell how well it all translates to TV, but Marks, who was in the Opera House, adds: ''You should have been there.'' |

| I'm curious too. Also- on TNT a couple days ago, they gave the AFI Life Achievement Award to Julie Andrews. It was fun. The children from the SOM movie were there and Cynthia Erivo sang "Edelweiss." | |

| For those who haven't seen the AFI clip of Julie Andrews' reunion with the children of ''The Sound of Music,'' here it is, below: I'll repeat what I posted recently: I would love to see Andrews get a special Tony. After all, she originated the roles of Eliza Doolittle in ''My Fair Lady'' and Guinevere in ''Camelot,'' and is known worldwide for Maria von Trapp in the 1965 film of ''The Sound of Music.'' She's 86, and in 2024, that'll mark the 70th anniversary of her Broadway/American debut in ''The Boyfriend.'' Two nights ago, the American Film Institute gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award. The Tonys are way overdue to celebrate this legend (while she's healthy) and where her career began: on Broadway. |
