I'll repeat what I posted recently: I would love to see Andrews get a special Tony. After all, she originated the roles of Eliza Doolittle in ''My Fair Lady'' and Guinevere in ''Camelot,'' and is known worldwide for Maria von Trapp in the 1965 film of ''The Sound of Music.'' She's 86, and in 2024, that'll mark the 70th anniversary of her Broadway/American debut in ''The Boyfriend.'' Two nights ago, the American Film Institute gave her a Lifetime Achievement Award. The Tonys are way overdue to celebrate this legend (while she's healthy) and where her career began: on Broadway. |
