| I've enjoyed plenty of televised Broadway concert specials (like the Sondheim tributes, the long gone My Favorite Broadway series and various Kennedy Center tributes), but that sampling left me... cold. Everything looked... competent. | |

| I understand what you mean. These are very gifted performers but they seem kind of detached. Almost like there's no audience there. I think that part of it is because there is no virtually no audible audience reaction until the last seconds of the video. | |

| Which is why I was wondering about its airdate. It's full of performers I've often admired, & they got to strut their stuff for 2 soldout performances. The Washington Post's Peter Marks called ''the exciting acts of '50 Years of Broadway,' directed by Marc Bruni, a joyful paean to the past.'' Time will tell how well it all translates to TV, but Marks, who was in the Opera House, adds: ''You should have been there.'' |
