Neil Diamond made a rare post-retirement appearance to sing ''Sweet Caroline'' Saturday night at the Boston Red Sox game in Fenway Park. He was joined by Will Swenson, who'll star in ''A Beautiful Noise, the Neil Diamond Musical,'' which starts June 21 at Boston's Emerson Colonial.

For Will Swenson's sake, and for all others involved in the show, I hope it does well. I'm going to have a tough time trying to drag myself to see this. But I hope it gets an audience.
