I understand what you mean. These are very gifted performers but they seem kind of detached. Almost like there's no audience there. I think that part of it is because there is no virtually no audible audience reaction until the last seconds of the video.

Which is why I was wondering about its airdate. It's full of performers I've often admired, & they got to strut their stuff for 2 soldout performances.

The Washington Post's Peter Marks called ''the exciting acts of '50 Years of Broadway,' directed by Marc Bruni, a joyful paean to the past.''

Time will tell how well it all translates to TV, but Marks, who was in the Opera House, adds: ''You should have been there.''
