As beloved as Sondheim is in our circles, there seems to be a ceiling as to how many audiences want to join this ''Company.''
This ''Company'' won 5 Tonys, the most for any show, but is announcing its scheduled closing before, say, ''Paradise Square.''
I'm reminded of ''Assassins'' winning the most Tonys with 5 in 2004, and then closing roughly a month after that.
Then again, this is the third ''Company'' revival on Broadway since the original one opened in 1970 and ran 705 performances.
By the time, this ''Company'' closes, it'll have racked up 300 shows, which is more than the 1995 revival (68) or 2007 revival (246). |
