I think they could have done "Getting Married Today" without an elaborate set, or "The Ladies Who Lunch" without an elaborate set, or almost any other number. They've done the opening number on TV already, so the interested audience has already seen it, and it's not very "grabby" anyway IMO. I don't think it helped their sales.
And the number is the only production number from a show from this year's Tonys that has been kept off YouTube. I don't know what led to that decision, but that seems really misguided in terms of generating sales. |
