I so agree with you, Jere. Hansberry was the first person I thought of; Diana Sands was another. Her all-too-brief theatrical career deserves to be acknowledged and remembered. Having a theatre named after her would accomplish that.
Naming a theatre for Audra is a terrific idea, too, although I do wish that rather than replacing anyone else's name the new names would go to theatres that are not already named for a theatrical individual.
Much as I love Lena Horne, she really wasn't of the theater as so many others have been. |
