I walked to London’s Holland Park to see its production of “Carmen.” As can be the case with opera, this performance seemed to be something of a social event. The venue has been in this location for many years, and the company spotlights young artists. There were no familiar names in the cast or among the creatives, but the singing was pleasant, and sometimes more so. Given that the London transit strike is in progress, it was nice to have an evening activity that was within walking distance. Getting back to Kensington from the West End would have been difficult at best.
