| Oh, dear -- thanks a lot before I bought a seat. re: live video - I think anything more than a couple of minutes in one scene is too much actually. I kind of reached my limit after the Met's Lucia. I know directors think use of video closeups enhances the acting, but for me it is a distraction that pulls me out of the magical world the actor has created live in front of us and made us believe. It creates a barrier that makes their work seem smaller in scope rather than more fully embracing a room of strangers. It diminishes the art of acting on a live stage. Anyway, I think I've given this fad a fair shot and I just don't want to sit through these things any more. Thanks for your reply! |
