Well stated take on the show reflecting a general consensus. Even The Song is more notable for its Herculean performance than its quality. It serves the character’s moment but to me in and of itself lacks specificity. It’s positioned to bring down the house and does so, but Nelly still feels more narrative than participatory. Bearer of the show’s teachable moments. Baffled about the circumvented AEA announcements, but Covid related absences are decidedly back. Chicago had 7 covers at a recent performance.
