Is it possible that there was an insert that fell out of your playbill before it was handed to you? Or that others in the theatre received playbills with inserts, but some playbills without them were accidentally given out? If not, then this is something that I hope someone reported to Equity.

When I saw the Hello, Dolly! revival, Kate Baldwin must have felt well enough to perform when the curtain went up (or at least when the overture started), but felt unwell or there was a family emergency or something that caused her to not be able to go on by the time of her entrance. At intermission, an understudy announcement was made. Inserts were made available that people could take, perhaps not till the end of the show, but perhaps by intermission. I can't remember at this point. And I think a sign was put up in the lobby as well. If that could be done under those circumstances, there is no excuse at all if indeed all that was done at Paradise Square was a sign in the lobby that was partially obscured by the doors. The last is also something that Equity ought to make sure doesn't happen (understudy signs not being easily visible).
