So glad you enjoyed Shereen Ahmed in the national tour of ''My Fair Lady.'' She made her Broadway debut in that show and got to play Eliza, thus making history as the first Arab-American woman and Muslim to lead a Broadway musical. She hopes to be a role model for other aspiring actors. And Ahmed told the Washington Post that she grew up dreaming of playing Eliza, rather than Princess Jasmine in ''Aladdin,'' so she got her wish.

And speaking of diversity, Sam Simahk, who plays Freddy, is Asian-American. His mother is a New Englander, and his father was an immigrant from Bangkok. Simahk's also played the lead in ''Oklahoma!'' at Theatre Under the Stars in Houston. Simahk, who hails from the backwoods of Massachusetts, told Cultural Attache: ''I'm more like Curly than the King of Siam. ... I have cattle ropers in my family, for instance.''
