We were talking before about the weighing by the producers of whether more potential audience members will be lost if they have a mask mandate or don't have a mask mandate. Although the cast is probably happy, too, it makes sense that the producers for two serious plays think more of their audience will be lost if they remove the mask mandate.

The only other Broadway shows currently running are musicals, POTUS, Plaza Suite, and Macbeth, all of which are probably looking for the tourist trade to help their box office, so not a big surprise they aren't requiring masks anymore. It will be interesting to see what happens when the serious plays return in the fall, particularly at the non-profits, whose subscriber bases probably are okay with mask wearing.
