I love these old news clippings! And even though it may be past its sell date a bit, I always find it so cool that Village Cigars---seen in the backgroudn so often in photos of that area, is something you can still see there today, when so much of the New York landscape has changed.
I don't have much to say about the article--although what a story! But I played the Young Man in a community theatre production of The American Dream, which was done as a triple bill. Act one was TAD and The Sandbox and act two was Zoo Story. I was in high school and it was introduction to Albee. Many years later I was involved with an Albee production behind the scenes and he invited us all to his home in Tribeca for a celebration. He wasn't terribly approachable as you might imagine, but I did get to tell him I had been in his play.
Thanks for sharing this and bringing back the memories! |
