In the Steppenwolf version Peel was never offered any blood and certainly didn't spread it on his face. I felt that the group was not going to let him go free so most likely they were going to kill him.
Based on the comments I am reading in this thread, Letts has probably rewritten the play's final scene for Broadway. However, I have read at least one New York review of the play that also mentioned The Wicker Man as an influence so I'm still a little puzzled. |
