V/V was a 'hit' solely on the basis of Julie Andrews being in it. In the original Times review (by Vincent Canby), after praising the cast, Canby says that the show is in desperate need of a 'doctor', like George Abbott . He dismisses the Henry Mancini/Leslie Bricusse songs as pretty mediocre, only topped by the several Frank Wildhorn songs interpolated, which he calls 'even worse' - well, that's what Mr WIldhorn writes. SOngs that even worse.
