This show sort of came out of the blue. The reviews were kind of tepid so we passed on it.
My partner and I saw Choir Boy two weeks ago and A Fine Feathered Murder last Sunday. We are seeing Tommy on Top today.
Choir Boy was OK, although not as effective as the Broadway production. I was disappointed that Daniel Kyri dropped out as Pharus. Jeremy Pope was a tough act to follow.
A Fine Feathered Murder was pretty funny and witty. Ed Jones and David Cerda gave remarkably restrained performances, even underplayed a little, which made the spoof really work. The Chopin Theatre checked vax cards and required masks.
We're going to try our luck at the lottery for The Devil Wears Prada beginning Monday.
BTW, have you seen It Came from Outer Space? I'm planning to make the trek to Navy Pier on Wednesday to check it out. I haven't been to Chicago Shakespeare this season yet, although I did manage to catch and enjoy As You Like It last December. |
