My personal take. I don't think being miscast should hurt her career.
If she is purposely staying out of the show (I hate to accuse her of that, but I'm not convinced she's not doing that), it should indeed affect her career.
As an MD, I would have no problem working with an actor who has had to miss shows for a respiratory illness, etc. It happens. (Hell, I even cast an actor in the title role of a musical once who had laryngitis during auditions, based on the strength of her resume and word of mouth.) But with an actor who is willfully not showing up to work (or who is HABITUALLY not taking steps to stay healthy) I would think twice about working with them in the future.
Again. my opinion. Beanie's "klutz" message on IG last week sounded a little phony to me. I, sorry to say, have my doubts about the tonsilitis. Were this a teacher/student situation, I would be wondering if the student is simply skipping class. (And I've been in that position, fairly recently as a matter of fact.)
So yes, I have to wonder what this will do in terms of future roles. |
