Personally, I would recommend either POTUS or Fat Ham.
I might give the edge to POTUS only because I don’t know when there will be another chance to see such world class comedic actors in one show and at the top of their game. It just wouldn’t be the same with lesser talents. The entire cast is very strong, but Julie White, Vanessa Williams, and Rachel Dratch are outstanding. The play itself is rather silly, broad, physical comedy - and no great literary masterpiece - but it gives these talented comedians a chance to show just how funny they can be. I laughed from start to finish and was glad I saw it. A nice anecdote to our stressful times.
Fat Ham is also very enjoyable and it might be interesting to see it juxtaposed with A Strange Loop. I suspect, though, there will be future opportunities to see this show with equally strong casts.
Just my two cents, fwiw.
Either way you wont go wrong. Sounds like a great theater trip. Please report back on your experiences! |
