| Very good points. I would add that people seem to be forgetting that Jerome Robbins came in and pretty much decided that the book was essentially BS and Funny Girl was "The Barbra Streisand Show" that should simply focus on its star singing the score broken up by chorus numbers that would have been cut in a better musical. Mimi Hines was one of those people up to task. Nothing about the show's plot was improved by the movie. Barbra had become a better actress who gave a sensational all-around performance. Fierstein's work is shit. |
