When it comes to out-of-town tryouts, I usually look for the Variety review and the one from the biggest metropolitan paper in the area.

In the case of ''The Karate Kid'' musical, sadly, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch no longer reviews, and it doesn't look like Variety sent a critic.

On the other hand, the ''Trading Places'' musical was reviewed by Variety and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and the links are below ...
