For what it's worth... I'm a huge fan of this show and score. I've listened to the OBC album and the OLC album truly countless times. I saw the first broadway revival and haven't listened to that cast album since it came out (if I even did fully the first time)... I adore the score, but I am also not in need of more albums of it unless they bring something very ew... and yet, I would buy/listen to this new cast album, whether I get to see it live or not.

And I think they are banking on revived interest in the score with Sondheim's passing, and especially with global recording star Sarah B as the lead.
I think she's a FAR bigger name in music now than Vanessa Williams was when she starred in the revival, which was surely a big factor in it being recorded (though almost all Sondheim Broadway productions get recorded... except the Roundabout Follies, which I think was because the Papermill cast album, with a much better cast, had just come out, and there was the 1985 concert album, and the london album, in addition to the OBC... so it was well recorded. ITW is too, but if a global recording star had been in the Roundabout Follies, it would have gotten an album).
