Was Daniel Fish's original concept for his Most Happy Fella different from the WTF concert?

While I understand that the WTF production is simply a concert of the songs from the show, I'm wondering if Fish's initial conceit was to do more of an actual revival/re-examination? Wasn't there a pre-pandemic version at Bard? Did anyone see it? And I'm also wondering if there was a more complete production planned when WTF first enlisted the project that got minimized for budgetary or other reasons.

Are there earlier statements or press releases of what his original intentions were, or was it always planned to be simply a concert with no character assignments? I can well-imagine a post-modern examination of the sexual and societal mores in the original libretto, but I'm curious to know how it might play out with the current casting.
