At closing the producers were hoping to recoup but I don’t think it did. So it probably got back most of the $11.5m costs. Plus it had a two year national tour which probably was profitable and maybe helped the show recoup the broadway costs. And it looks like a second national tour is launched now. So I wouldn’t consider it “an expensive commercial failure” like dr zhivago, Gigi, last ship or finding neverland of the same season.
Fun home cost $5.25m and recouped in 8 months. So it had at least a half of year of profits. It’s national tour was much smaller
