Since you were respectful, I'll agree LOL Jeanette's number is not quite as much of a non-sequitur as Zip. (She certainly has a far more intrinsic role in the plot.) It's interesting (to me) that Zip's original interpreter was an actress who's name is unknown to me: Jean Casto. It looks to have been the first of only two Broadway credits (the other being the original Mrs. Mullin in Carousel). Given that such high wattage actresses such as Eileen Heckart, Kay Medford, Dixie Carter, Bebe Neuwirth and, most famously, Stritch in her first star-making role, made such a sensation with it, it would seem the original intent may not have been to create a sensation.
