I like Clooney and Grant both but I agree that they're odd choices. Partially because they're both fairly young (they are both 61), and it feels like they still have a long career ahead of them. I'm also finding it hard to think of a role he's had that has had significant long-term impact. They've both been in the public eye for a while, though: Grant's first album came out while she was still in high school, and Clooney's breakthrough in ER happened almost 30 years ago in 1994 (hard to believe it was that long ago).
Have any of the honorees appeared on Broadway ever? U2 members of course wrote the songs for Spider-man: Turn Off the Dark (not exactly Broadway's finest hour). |
