Well, I had a press ticket, so... But even if I'd paid I'd have been satisfied. The name I'd have been paying for never misses a show.
I'd have liked to see BDJ because I always enjoy his work, but it was actually nice to see Jason Forbach. I see his name all the time, but I don't think I've ever actually seen him in anything (certainly not a leading role).
And one thing about a well-done concert staging like this is seeing how a show can come across perfectly well without much in the way of sets. We see plenty of money splashed all over stages (and in service of poorer material), so I'm OK with sometimes not. And it's not as if they're not spending plenty on what we do see on stage (the cast and full orchestra). |
