| Thanks to bwaynut, rossprib ,KingSpeed, keikekaze, Chromolume, Deirdre, BroadwayTonyJ, mikem, kaoru, Roman, MockingbirdGirl, dramedy, Thom915, ryhog, bmc, BruceInIthaca, PlayWiz, and Snowgrace for all those kinds words! I appreciate them all. dramedy, we have immune-compromised family members, so we are staying ultra-cautious, especially as the new subvariants seem to be hitting even vaccinated and boosted folks really hard. I haven’t been to an indoor event since seeing a friend’s daughter in a high school production of SWEENEY TODD in February 2020. We were going to see Melissa Errico this month, but she had to cancel due to Covid. So traveling to Chicago for the convention is a no go (and would have been iffy even without the pandemic, as we’re still recovering from Plumbing Hell). PlayWiz, for several reasons, I went with a specific deal with Amazon only, at least for the first year of release. I allegedly get more exposure and royalties this way. I will say, you Chatterati are coming through for me: BROADWAY REVIVAL jumped from #50 in Amazon Kindle sales, Broadway and Musicals to as high as #4! So thanks, gang! I still had Julie Andrews, Elvis,,and Paul Ford’s book on working with Sondheim ahead of me. But their name recognition kind of dwarfs mine! ryhog, my husband, Harry Turtledove, writes a lot of alternate history, and has been nominated many times for the Sidewise Award, and has won four, including one for another theatrical-themed novel, RULED BRITANNIA. He has the Spanish Armada not sink, but conquer England, and poor Will Shakespeare is enlisted by the Resistance to write a play inspiring the masses, while at the same time, his counterpart Lope de Vega has drafted him to write a play honoring the dying Spanish king, Philip II. Harry says he can’t have favorites of his books, but for obvious reasons, that’s my favorite of his titles. So we go back to the beginning of the Sidewise; I think Harry was nominated for the first three years before winning. Laura, overwhelmed by all this |
