| Your post speaks to the very reason I had absolutely no interest in this show until the video. My first thought was, "are we really doing men in dresses again? didn't we learn our lesson?" I saw "Tootsie" and there was certainly an effort to update it for a modern audience, but it still came across as very dated. The book writers certainly have their work cut out for them. I will forgive a show a lot with a great score. Hopefully the rest of the score is as strong as this song. A lot of credit needs to be given to the orchestrators, sure, but I still think it's solid to begin with. And thank you producers for spending the money on a 17-piece orchestra (sounds like 30!). I digress from the topic of course. Thank you for your thoughtful response. Let's hope for the best. |
