Yes! Exactly what made Hamilton so intriguing and appealing- in addition to its compositional merits.
I would still hope that theatres will feel they have the right to mount productions of 1776 with all-cis-genedered, white, middle-aged male casts if that's what they want to do (i.e. present a "realistic" traditional production) but the natural progress of the art is leaning towards more experimentation and it is increasingly being viewed by audiences as less "experimental" and more as just good old "storytelling".
