| That's correct...Joe and Jerry hear about the opening for a sax player and bass player at the last moment before the band decamps for Miami. The previous players had quit and the band was in a bind. It's not stated specifically, but it's implied that no female players were available. Joe and Jerry are not even shown being made to audition. They introduce themselves to everyone at the train, so they've never even met anyone associated with the band before showing up on the platform. |
