Isn't it "supposed" to be derivative of a period and style? The songs in Hairspray, as wonderful as they were, were consciously derivative, sometimes of specific songs. That's the point.
As for me, as I repeat the song in my head, I keep sliding into The Lady's In Love with You, not an inapt song for Some Like It Hot. |
