| This should come as a surprise to no one, but I would think Sondheim scores. i remember an interview with Paul Gemignani, maybe for the book Sondheim and Co., where he said he would finish the first act of Sweeney Todd, and felt like he didn't have the energy to do the second, it was so consisently demanding throughout. (Maybe in part due to the extensive underscoring?) And Sunday in the Park with George had the issue of co-ordinating musical cues with the movements of scenic elements. I'm sure among other issues. |
