Of course, the weird thing about Jelly's Last Jam is that Jelly Roll Morton was not a dancer, yet the show is dance-centric.
One could apply that to many characters in many shows, historically real or not. Dance is simply part of musical theatre language/expression. One could also say that most characters in musicals wouldn't really be singers, but yet they all sing, lol. |
