This is a different-format documentary about the long relationship/marriage of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward, starting with meeting as understudies for the original Picnic on Broadway. The doc directed by Ethan Hawke (lots of the audio narration done by current actors, including Laura Linney, Brooks Ashmanskas, and Kennedy Center Honoree George Clooney - how I'll always think of him now - and some Zoom appearance over lots and lots of archival footage and original audio by various luminaries, friends and family) is now (all six episodes) on HBO Max. I liked the first episode, especially the early TV drama footage and theatre coverage, and I guess I'm the last theatre fan to know that Newman made it through casting to almost appear as Curly in the film of Oklahoma!.
