In the prologue to Heart, Audible Theater's world premiere production currently playing at the Minetta Lane Theatre, performer and writer Jade Anouka casually informs the audience: "This story was written by a black woman." Anouka goes on to state that, contrary to expectations, "This is not a black story or a woman story." It is instead "a story for all of the misfits, all those who have ever felt 'other.'" |
