| I didn’t mean to leave Soo’s Cinderella out. She’s fine. Not a particularly flattering color or style ballgown. And lovely singing, of course. But it requires a really grounded sense of self. I’ve seen Cinderella walk away with the show: Cinderella can be played very deep. But that doesn’t happen here. And her big number, while very challenging just as a song, needs to make a point besides just telling that long “pitch” story. What is it that she discovers in that event? About the artifice of palace life….. |
