I read it just a few months ago. There are considerable insights into the family life of Berlin. My favorite line, if I remember it correctly, was when her mother admonished her for making some table manner error and she answered: "But daddy does it." The simple dismissive answer from her mother: "Your father is a genius."
A genius, indeed.
The title of the book is Irving Berlin: A Daughter's Memoir. It's circulating in the NY Public LIbrary system. |
