In that case it was the show that was being recognised, not lifetime careers. I still don't quite understand why that happened, other than the Kennedy Centre was striving to be young, hip and inclusive. (I loved Hamilton and thought it was a worthy recipient of its Tony, its Pulitzer, its Grammy, etc.; but if it had been awarded the Nobel Prize for Chemistry I would have been pulled.)
